Our Homeless and Community Outreach Committee looks forward to another memorable and meaningful year of planning and implementing activities to meet the needs of the homeless, to support our veterans, and to improve the quality of life of children and families. 

Chairsoror Charlene Jones Mitchell and Co-Chairs Bronwyn Burton and Carolyn Gamble invite you to attend the following committee meetings during which they will continue planning activities for the remainder of the 2012-2013 calendar year.

• Tuesday, April 2 at 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, May 7 at 6 p.m.  

Meal Service at Crossroads | Sunday, March 10, 2013 | 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The chapter will prepare soup and 1,500 sandwiches for 750 men, women, and children at Crossroads of Michigan. There are two shifts: 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. About 20 volunteers are needed for each shift. 

Love Our Veterans | Thursday, February 14, 2013 | 6:00 p.m.

The chapter spent Valentine's Day with veterans at Piquette Square, a 150-apartment facility for homeless veterans in Detroit. Members showed their love and appreciation for our hometown heroes by preparing and serving them a dinner consisting of spaghetti, fried chicken, tossed salad, rolls, assorted homemade desserts, and more. DAC Sorors had a wonderful time paying tribute and spending time with our veterans and plan to return again next year.
