Detroit Alumnae Chapter will attend "From Dreams to Reality," the fourth annual legacy march honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for tours and exhibits. The pre-march ceremony begins at 9:15 a.m., and the 1.5 mile march will begin at 10:00 a.m. in front of the school.
The Social Action Committee will register voters. We would like at least 100 sorors to participate in commemoration of our 100th anniversary. Please wear Delta paraphernalia. We are allowed to bring banners identifying our organization. Approved placard signs will be available. For those unable to march, you will be able to participate in the tours and exhibits, view interactive displays, and attend discussions with former Freedom Bus Riders and others about the civil rights struggles.
The program will focus on Dr. King's nonviolence teachings and their application in our lives today. Activities will also showcase the music and dance talent of current and former King High School students, other Detroit Public School students, and individuals from Michigan. During the program, participants will also honor the memory of Trayvon Martin, the students and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary School, and the youth of Detroit.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Soror Marcia Hannah at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or visit the MLK Legacy March-Detroit page on Facebook.
